Still trying to figure it out. All I see is magic but a great deal of it is dark right now. I will however refrain from comments here in my blog except for one last article and/or picture. The choice to read is of course yours.

So........here’s the “lighter” stuff.

Last rock painting given to Alfonzo

I have begun another rock painting, Alfonzo was delighted to receive the one pictured as a gift for all his help and friendship over the years. The present one is being done with the help of a really great gift of a paint set by my new friends from Canada. You who have painted here know this layout. And thank you my dears.

Mind stuff!

This is one of the very most talented, intelligent and forward looking people on the planet. AI is his newest major interest. If you want to know what is happening in the field check this out and follow his development.

Elon Musk

Kind of along the same lines it appears there may be a giant over looking neuron in our brain that connects it all. Now there’s the place to look for some AI possibilities, eh?

And if it is true that a single atom can store information, well here we go!

Visual Entertainment:

Amazing images. Now these are a new level of capturing the experience of altered states of consciousness. Sensitive and beautiful - treat yourself!

And right now at WSU (my first alma mater) A team of physicists has created what appears to be negative mass. Important in order to understand the very nature of the universe!!

You know how I love archeology. Here are some things that have caught my eye lately. Always expanding the possibilities and suggesting many more mysteries.

A long lost “mini” culture discovered in Kansas. Etzanoa was part of a larger 1500 century site of over 20,000 people.Yet another evidence of the vast Native American presence here in the Americas before the invasion.

Another site further away but with implications of the “Great Flood” myth. Originally, the ruins were dated to the Mycenaean period, 1600–1100 BC but later studies showed an older occupation date starting no later than 2800 BC, so it also includes early Bronze Age middle Minoan and transitional material. It is now believed that the town was submerged around 1000 BC  by the first of three earthquakes that the area suffered. The area never re-emerged, so it was neither built-over nor disrupted by agriculture. Although eroded over the centuries, the town layout is as it was thousands of years ago. The site is under threat of damage by boats dragging anchors, as well as by tourists and souvenir hunters.

This is very cool – first writing – how important is that?

How about a little astronomy? After all it is our universe (along with millions of other planets many close by in our galaxy). Getting closer all the time to finding extraterrestrial life, oh man I want to be here when we find it.

Here's one of our closer galaxies with it’s own complement of planets, life forms (?), mythologies etc, etc etc!!

Sombrero Galaxy

New extraterrestrial planets are being found regularly now with one system "Trappist" having seven planets with three in The "Goldilocks Zone".

"Life" possible on one of those??

Some important moments in the great scheme of things:

This is a very rare picture of Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce who in 1877 outfoxed and out fought two  American armies at the same time.

Nez Perce group known as “Chief Joseph’s Band”, Lapwai, Idaho, spring, 1877

And here an earlier portrayal of Jules Cesar accepting the surrender of Vercingotorix, high king of the Celts after the battle of Alesia.

And the great statute of Genghis Khan in the steppes of Mongolia.

Here are just a few things that are happening and being discovered that you may wish to investigate.

Time Crystals: The idea of a time crystal was first put forward by Nobel laureate and MIT professor Frank Wilczek in 2012.[a] Space-time crystals extend the ordinary three-dimensional symmetry seen in crystals to include the fourth dimension of time; a time crystal spontaneously breaks the symmetry of time translation. The crystal's pattern repeats not in space, but in time, which allows for the crystal to be in perpetual motion.[3] Time crystals are closely related to the concepts of zero-point energy and the dynamical Casimir effect.[b]

Material ejected by an astronomical Black Hole: contrary to our previous concepts regarding Black Holes we must now add that material IS ejected from them occasionally. This is not yet fully understood but that's what SCIENCE is all about - seeking truth.

This is also referred to as the "Great Wall" and is composed of billions of GALAXIES connected by streams of gas and nebulae. The cosmos is so huge and so mysterious: so full of adventure for generations to come....I hope!
Here's one of those click teasers I enjoy just for the hell of it.

Ancient markings in Sea of Cortez ? more interesting stuff, no? Enlarge the photo to see it more clearly.

The Earth's thermostats: clouds, oh you heavenly things and oh so important!

So what’s going on in the animal world?

Cephalopods: brainy critters
A little story to go with this. While working at the Bodega Marine Laboratory in the early seventies part of my job was to keep the aquarium room squared away. One of the professors at Berkeley was doing some octopus studies and had a half dozen of them in sealed aquaria in the room. Another professor was miffed at the loss of fish from his aquaria. Each time he came in there were less fish.
I stayed hidden one night in the room to see if I could catch whoever or whatever was accounting for the killing. As I watched in true wonder I saw an octopus wiggle it's way into the air flow tube, out of his tank, across the floor, up the shelves and into the fish tank - mystery solved. I read somewhere years ago that they are capable of recognizing names and distinguishing faces.

Humpbacks congregate: significantly larger groups than ever before seen. May be due to drones making possible larger grids for researcher's to work - that's my hope!

And as usual some “strange critters” to marvel at and enjoy:

Majesty
There's always got to be one, no?
A cellular creature just like us
"ruffled"

And then the beauty of intent of the predator:

BTW: I co-wrote a book, “Dillon’s Honor” which is available on kindle through Amazon. It is my first and very possibly last venture into writing a historical novel.  I published this some years ago but I can't remember exactly when.

Tallinn: the city where I was born
Vikings to the core!

Here's a great simulation of the Earth's winds and currents. Remember it can be viewed all the way around.

Another cool place to investigate in my cyber life. A mystery island deep in Siberia. Perhaps Chinese over 1000 years ago.

A little ragged but enjoying what is here and what I’m doing. Oh, big news! I went out this morning and got 3 humpack IDs (4/3/17). This is the best one.

So.....I’m back! I won’t go into detail but just to say that I now operate with a pacemaker connected to my heart. All seems good so I returned to my home in El Cardonal on Sunday the 12th. I do want to thank with deepest gratitude the following people who made my stay in CA not only possible but extremely pleasant. Chronologically: Zack & Rachel, Macy & Erin, Chris & Trillium, Susan, Charlie & Lisa, Leon & Nancy, Shauna, Kirsten, Alan & Marilyn, Kersti, Kevin & Kelley, Peter & Julie – thank you all so very much.

Members of my family at the end of the trip: from left, me, bro Peter, sis-in-lawJulie, niece Kelley, daughter Kersti, son Zack, nephew Kevin - and the dogs.

The whales are a bit late this year in my grid. Nothing serious (I hope) because there seem to be plenty around Cabo and as far north as Los Frailes my way, just not here. I need to hold back a bit anyway due to a minor complication with the pacemaker (again nothing serious). I did however finally get last years data to Jorge Urban at the university in La Paz. Here are a couple of great pics – NOT MINE – showing humpbacks doing “bubble netting” and a large group of sperm whales up close.

humpback feeding technique

sperm whales up close - swam in a group of 27 a few years back.

HOWEVER: I did get out a couple of times before my med problems and here are HB# 1  17 & HB# 2  17. And I saw my first Risso’s Dolphin!

I have to include what might become one of the most exciting discoveries in astronomy this year. A star only 39 light years away has a solar system with seven rocky planets three of which are in “The Goldilocks zone” of their star: therefore capable of sustaining life. This is very, very big for those of us who are waiting for that first word that there is other life off this planet – HooHah!!

Here are two of the women I fell in love with when still a young lad – yes, I was very young. I include them because…..well, just because.

Susan Hayward

Claudette Colbert

Speaking of beautiful things here are some animal shots (not mine) that I love and want to share.

Well, everybody is beautiful in their own way, no?

This is interesting. A new archeological site has been discovered that dwarfs Stonehenge.

                                 http://www.cnn.com/2015/09/07/europe/new-superhenge-discovery/

Two other sites worth mentioning – yet another field of study I could have easily followed – Archeology!

The great and “fabled” city of Heracleion was recently discovered and is now providing marine archeologists with a veritable playground of ancient structures. It is  very near Alexandria Egypt. Ah......now there’s a great combo – water and discovery.

And where is this? Mumbai, western coast of India. Really worth checking out all the pics

One last thought: be kind to bats, they are the “night birds” that eat a lot of insects – very important to the biosphere!
